Shubman Gill cops blow to right elbow in nets

India captain received treatment from the physio and did not bat again after being struck by a Mohammed Siraj delivery
Shubman Gill copped a blow to his right elbow while batting in the nets ahead of the first ODI against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram. He did not return to bat later.
The India ODI captain was hit by a Mohammed Siraj delivery while batting two days ahead of the first one-dayer, and left the nets visibly in pain, clutching his right elbow.
Siraj rushed to check on Gill, who promptly walked out of the nets, accompanied by the physio. The India captain stationed himself atop one of the cooler boxes lined up by the side of the nets, and spent the next 45 minutes there. The physio first assessed the flexibility of his shoulder, and then applied an ice pack. He kept the ice pack on for the next 20 minutes, after which the physio came and put a piece of plaster on his elbow.
As he continued sitting and resting, he first had Siraj for company, after which Rohit Sharma came up briefly to check on him. Later, Virat Kohli and Gurnoor Brar sat by his side even as the ice pack stayed put for another 20 minutes. He finally stood up later, sharing a smile with Yashasvi Jaiswal as he mimicked a shot with his left elbow, keeping the right arm straight.
Over an hour after the blow, and probably as a precaution, Gill was given the icepack once again by the physio, and returned to his seat as the rest of the practice session continued.
Close to an hour and a half after the hit, the physio did another assessment. Gill did not return to bat, but was able to himself pack up his protective gear. He fiddled around with his bat, staying almost until the end of the nets session before walking off: his bat in one hand, and his pads in the other.
