Renuka is yet to build up the bowling workload needed for 50-over cricket, the BCCI said

Assam seamer Jintimani Kalita has replaced Renuka Singh Thakur in India’s ODI squad against Zimbabwe.

Renuka has been ruled out of the three-match series, with a BCCI statement saying “she is still building up the bowling volume required for the 50-over format at the BCCI Centre of Excellence”.

The 30-year-old Thakur featured in India’s last Women’s ODI assignment, against Australia in March. She played twice in the Women’s T20 World Cup in June and was also picked for the Women’s Test against England at Lord’s in July, although she didn’t feature in it.

Kalita, who earned her maiden India call-up in the T20Is that preceded the ODI series, has taken one wicket in 13 WPL games across two seasons for Mumbai Indians. She played in the white-ball series against Australia A’s touring side in September, before which she travelled to England with the ‘A’ side.

She did not feature in India’s 3-0 series win over Zimbabwe in the T20Is but has travelled with the team to Baroda for the one-dayers. All three matches will be played in the city, between October 23 and 28.
