Cricbuzz · Bertus de Jong · 2 May 2023, 9:56 AM

A disastrous first event and a global pandemic are hardly the ingredients for a successful new league in an underdeveloped region. Yet three years later, the European Cricket Network continues to ride the fantasy cricket wave and go from strength to strength
It began five years ago, with a chance meeting at St Moritz.
The picturesque Swiss mountain town was hosting its traditional Ice Cricket event, briefly drawing the attention of cricket fans as the likes of Shahid Afridi, Jacques Kallis and Virender Sehwag, bundled up in winter gear, convened to show off their skills on the frozen Moritzersee. But it was off the ice that the more consequential meeting took place.
