Keegan Petersen

The leading run-getter in the first-class 3-day competition in 2013-14 season, Keegan Petersen also known as 'KP' is an entertaining and aggressive middle order batsman who can keep wickets too. Keegan notched up his highest first-class score of 225* in the same season and that also helped him win the award of the three-day Cricketer of the Year at CSA awards.

2018 hasn't been a productive year for Petersen with a string of low scores playing for the Knights to his name in the first-class format. Although he was a part of Cape Cobras in 2014-15 season, he wasn't a regular member of the team due to lack of consistency.

A year later however, he was the leading run scorer in the CSA 4-Day Franchise Series for 2018/19, and that soon translated into a national call-up. But it took a while for Petersen to get his chance with the senior team, despite being a squad member for the Tests against England in 2019 and Pakistan in 2021. Petersen finally got his debut in 2021 against West Indies His finest hour for South Africa came in the 2021/22 home series against India, where he was the leading run scorer for his team as SA won the series 2-1.

Since then, Petersen has suffered a loss in form as well as a few unfortunate injuries. Despite having the technique and temperament to become a leading player in Test cricket, Keegan Petersen is yet to fully tap into his potential.
