Thamsyn Newton

Thamsyn Michelle Moupia Newton comes from a town called Paraparaumu, which is situated in the south-western North Island of New Zealand. It is 55 kilometers from Wellington and that is where Newton started her career as a right-arm medium pacer, playing for Wellington Blaze in the State League.

However, she soon switched to Canterbury Magicians in search of more opportunities and within two years of her move, Newton made her debut for New Zealand in a T20I game against Sri Lanka.

She almost made an immediate impact, picking 3 for 9 in her third T20I game. In the coming few months, she won her first ODI cap as well and debuted against Australia in February 2016.

Newton recorded the second best bowling figures for a New Zealand women against Pakistan when she picked up 5 for 31 in 2016. That performance promoted the selectors to keep her in the side for the 2017 World Cup.
